Maintaining
the Facility & Program
Office
& Warehouse Use
Our
18,000 sq. ft. warehouse that houses the Friendship
Center
not only continues to
be a tremendous asset and blessing to our ministry,
but is starting to be used more and more by other
community groups.
FISH
of Vancouver, one of the area’s main food banks, continues
to make use of our space twice a year when there are
major food drives – the Letter Carriers in May and
Walk-n-Knock in December – they can’t handle in their
own facility. In addition, the FISH Board has been
holding their meetings at the Center. We value our
partnership with FISH and look forward to working
with them in the future.
Two
Men’s Groups, one from Columbia Presbyterian Church
and one from Orchards United Methodist, held full
day retreats at the Friendship Center over the past
year. We continue to be open to the idea of other
groups holding similar faith-building events in the
future as well.

FOC
hosted the monthly meeting of the Greater Vancouver
Interfaith Association in June where we welcomed new
Vancouver Chief of Police Cliff Cook as the guest
and featured speaker. A group of about 20 people from
a broad range of the faith community were treated
to a lively and informative lunch time presentation.

Habitat
for Humanity made use of our property to build a children’s
playhouse for the Annual Home & Garden Show.
Rainbow
Glacier, our former neighbor to the west, found a
more traditional use for the warehouse by storing
their overflow plastics at the Friendship Center .

Containers
& Truck Storage
A
40 foot Cargo Container was donated to FOC by Don
and Carolyn Wells. The additional storage space allows
the ministry to store donated items, and is also available
to other organizations on a temporary basis. This
container joins two other ones, one used by FOC, and
one by FISH of Vancouver
.
Friends
of the Carpenter rents out space to area truckers
for the storage of their trailers. Over the course
of 2007, 11 different companies and individual truckers
have utilized this service.
