Volunteer Opportunities and News.....

                                          

Listed below are the current opportunities for volunteers. Our opportunities are constantly changing so check back often for updated volunteer positions. We are in constant need of volunteers and any help is greatly appreciated. For further information feel free to contact us through our Contact page.

Woodworker in Your Home Shop
Parts for projects need to be prepared for ourwoodworking events on a continuing basis. Wood and instruction are provided, but work can be done on your own time and at your own location. Please complete the Tool Inventory Form available at our office.
Woodworker on-site at Friends of the Carpenter Shop
Under the supervision and with the support of the Friends of the Carpenter Shop Foreman, parts for the projects needed for the woodworking events are made. Please see the Shop Foreman to arrange a time to be "checked out" on the tools in the shop. Mon. and Tues. afternoons, Wed., Thur. and Fri. mornings.
Hospitality Host
Sit at the front desk in our reception area- welcome and greet guests visiting the Center.  Also includes answering the telephone and doing any office type tasks as assigned.  Mon - Fri 9 am - 12 noon and 1 - 4 pm
Transportation Volunteer

Assist with occasional pick-up of wood from local supplier and transport to storage areas. And/or assist with transportation of participants to woodworking events, for special outings, to church services.Can volunteer to be a driver or to ride along for the fun.

Special Events Volunteer
Help with our special events throughout the year; Rummage Sale, Auction, Christmas Concert, Warehouse Dance, etc.
Church Liaison
Represent Friends of the Carpenter to your local church congregation. Includes assisting to recruit and inform volunteers of upcoming events.
Shelter/Church Event Volunteer
Woodworking events are held at local shelters and churches. A variety of tasks are assigned and can range from sanding, gluing, painting, and drilling, envelope stamping and stuffing and mailings. But it's not about the wood... the "table" fellowship is important; listening and care-giving skills are helpful.
Cooks Helper Volunteer
Meal preparation for the homeless under the direction of the shelter staff.  Breakfast is served Mon. through Fri. mornings, 5:30 - 7 am, as well as Brunch on the 3rd Saturday and Dinner on the 4th Monday.
Meal Server Volunteer
Serve meals for the homeless under the direction of the shelter staff.
SHARE Outreach Volunteer
Help with shower sign-ups, clothing needs and laundry at Share House. Friday morning 8:30-11:00 a.m.
Vendor at Bazaars and Farmers Market
Represent Friends of the Carpenter at craft bazaars.
Retail Outlet Representative & Mail Order Preparer
Contact local retail outlets and distribute product items, and complete mail orders.
Newsletter/Mailings Volunteer
Preparing the monthly newsletter for mailing and assist with special mailings on the 2nd Wednesday following noon worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church (13th & Franklin), 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Carpenter's Caregiver
Follow-up with participants who desire a deeper understanding in faith or wish to become involved in the life and fellowship of a local church. Includes a willingness to partner in prayer for/with a homeless person as well as offering prayer on behalf of those with special needs.
Worship/Music Leader
Be willing to lead or assist with scripture, prayer, meditation or music at woodworking events or volunteer gatherings. (Instrumentalist optional)
Homeless Court Advocate

Accompany and be an advocate for our friends in the Homeless Court Justice system monthly
